A benefit auction and BBQ dinner will be at the Walnut Springs Community Center on Saturday April 18, for Susan Trotter, who is battling cancer.

Live music kick-offs the event at 2 p.m. and the first auction will start at 4 p.m.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and diners will be treated to music while they eat.

The second auction begins at 7 p.m. and many bands will entertain guests until the last dancer has twirled.

Admission for adults is $8; children ages six through 12 are $5 and children under five years of age get in free.

Trotter lives in Walnut Springs with her husband Tim Trotter and their three sons. She teaches school in Meridian.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer three and a half years ago and just learned on Jan. 27 that the cancer had made an aggressive return. Doctors found the cancer had spread to her bones, lungs, lymph glands and spine.

The cancer has fractured bones and Trotter has already had a hip replacement and arm surgery. She has endured 24 radiation treatments and plans to have eight weeks of chemotherapy.
