County officials lifted the burn ban Monday. 

Somervell County Commissioners enacted the 90-day burn ban June 24, and until Thursday, Sept. 19, the county had seen only sparse, scattered showers during that time.

The court lifted the ban at a called meeting after about four inches of rain fell on the area over a two-day period.

The montly rain total, according to somervellweather.com, adds up to 4.21 inches, which compares to the annual recorded rain total of 28.5 inches.
