Visitors at the Center last week were Gene and Virgie Hale.  We hope to see them back real soon.

The “42” tournament winners last week were: 1st place winner was the team of Grady May & Loveda Swaim. 2nd place was a tie between the teams of Charlotte Carmichael & Mary Voss and Roy Mercer & James Kelley. 3rd place was a tie between the teams of Dorothy Jo Osborn & Ila Verne Stull and Pat Thompson & Don Baker. 4th place winner was the team of Royce Stacy & Clark Stewart.  The other teams participating were Veda Gosdin & Nancy Moore, Janelle Gartrell & Trey Welch, Anne Parham & Marcy Copell, Floyd Flanary & Dortha Beck, Zula Hunter & Cora Harkins and Billie Jean Pickens & Mary Pruett.  A big “Thank You” to Alice Lance for serving as tournament judge.  

We are planning to see Christmas In New York at the Opera House in Granbury on Sunday, December 13th. We will be meeting at the Citizen’s Center at 1:30 p.m. and need at least twenty people to receive the discounted ticket price of $10.00.  Tickets have to be purchased prior to the show and may or may not be refunded depending on the number we have going. Please call to reserve by Wednesday the 10th.

Activities at the Citizen’s Center beginning on December 14th:  “42”, Wal-Mart shopping, Wii and the Red Hat Steppers on Monday; ceramics and needlework on Tuesday; “42” Tournament, health screening with Lee Home Health and talk with Clark Cole on Wednesday; “42”, TOPS and David’s grocery shopping on Thursday; bingo with Nicole of GRMC nursing home, quilting, Brookshire’s grocery shopping and Swap & Shop on Friday.

The Red Hat Steppers, a dance troupe from Stephenville, will be entertaining us right after lunch on Monday, December 14th. Come down and enjoy some entertainment with your meal.   

The Citizen’s Center will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24-25, for the Christmas Holiday. We want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

We would like to invite all Somervell County Senior Citizens and their spouses to our 10th annual Trust Fund Christmas Party.  It will be on Friday, December 11th and the doors open at 6:00 p.m.  Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.  There will be a meal, door prizes, entertainment, visit from Santa, and lots of fun. The festivities are completely funded by the Somervell County Senior Citizens’ Trust Fund, but we gladly accept donations.  We ask that you reserve by calling the Citizen’s Center at 254-897-2139 or you may come by and sign the reservation list.

Dec. 14 - Butterbeans with ham, fried okra, stewed tomatoes, cornbread, pineapple pudding and milk.

Dec. 15 - Tropical chicken salad, broccoli/cauliflower salad, crackers, lemon bars and milk.

Dec. 16 - Country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, spinach, roll, peach dump cake and milk.

Dec. 17 - Baked potato with all the fixings, tomato basil soup, crackers, jello/fruit and milk.

Dec. 18 - Catfish, pinto beans, cole slow, hushpuppies, cookies and milk.
