Somervell County Master Gardeners' Community Horticulture Education Series continues Monday, Feb. 11.

Tarrant County Master Gardener Starr Krottinger will serve as guest speaker, delivering a program, "Using Ornamental Grasses in Your Landscape.

Krottinger, a retired librarian, first fell in love with purple fountain grass, which sprouted her desire to know more about native and ornamental grasses. She volunteers at BRIT (Botanical Research Institute of Texas) in Fort Worth.

Ornamental grasses are colorful, hardy, display all season interest and are easy to maintain. The texture, form and colors of ornamental grass are difficult to duplicate with any other plant. Whether they are used as screens, accents or focal points, gardeners interested in implementing them in their lawns and landscapes are invited to learn how ornamental grasses can be utilized.

The informational session is free and open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Somervell County Citizens Center.
