An area Texas-sized music hall has been closed.
Rio Brazos, located on State Highway 144 between Glen Rose and Granbury, was officially closed Monday, owner Tracy Hartman confirmed Tuesday.
"It's official," she said. "We made the announcement yesterday."
The announcement was made through Facebook and the venue's website, riobrazoslive.com.
"We want to thank everyone who has supported us over the last year!" the Facebook announcement said. "Sadly, the Rio is officially closed."
The closure comes less than a year after the venue's grand opening event last November, and sources say employees were told of the music hall's fate following a Saturday show.
When asked when the staff had been informed, Hartman declined comment.
But she did say the property has been listed for sale with a broker out of Fort Worth.
"It's sad the Rio has to be gone and will no longer provide a live music venue in Granbury," Hartman said.
More than 100 commenters on the business's Facebook page agreed.
"Sorry to hear any business close," Facebook commenter Larry Mann said. "It's hard to make it, even with the big names so often playing. Billy Bob's, has a larger crowd to draw from and they have a hard time. The city of Ft. Worth subsidize them to keep them from closing."
