Somervell County Fire Department is on the scene of a brush fire off of CR 2010.
Just before 1 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where a water truck from Fossil Rim Wildlife Center was already working to help snuff the blaze.
Crews responded to a property in the 2800 block of CR 2010, adjacent to Fossil Rim.
Firefighters were faced with more than 30 mile per hour winds and thick brush when they called on the assistance of crews from Erath County Fire Rescue and Selden Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire was originally estimated to span a little more than three acres.
As the they continued to battle the blaze, some crews moved to the 2500 block of CR 2010 as high winds wafted close to a residence. While there was not any fire approaching the home, residents were warned of its presence and officials were stationed at the home to prepare for evacuation if needed.
Meanwhile, other firefighters manning brush and water trucks maneuvered the the rough terrain as the effort continued.
