BURLESON - George Steven "Steve" Goebel, 48, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, in Burleson.

Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Alsbury Baptist Church, Burleson. Interment: Squaw Creek Cemetery, Rainbow, Texas. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.

Steve was born on Oct. 31, 1968, to George Goebel and Kay Johnson. After high school he proudly served his country for four years in the U. S. Navy. He accepted Jesus at the age of eight and loved Christ. After obtaining his Masters Degree, Steve served as a chaplain for the Federal Prison System. He spread his word daily.

Steve's nieces and nephews called him Uncle Cheese. He loved life. Laughter was a big part of his life. The first thing people noticed was his smile. Steve was always encouraging.  He had a huge sense of humor and a vibrant smile. He radiated love and life and was always uplifting. Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors: Son: Brayden Goebel; daughter: Blythe Goebel; parents: Jim and Kay Johnson and George Goebel; brothers: Jimmy Goebel (Shelley), Rob Goebel(Vicki) and Kevin Johnson; sisters: Alicia Johnson Watson and Roxanne Horn (Chris); nieces and nephews: Cassie (Ryan), Jacob (Melanie), Kayla, Wyatt, Angel, Brandon, Kaylyn, A.J., Jace; great niece, Collins; best friend and brother: Justin McCain; and many dear friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.
