Charlie "Doyle" Hankins passed from this life on Sept. 8, 2013, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 2 days.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Ward Branch Cemetery in Somervell County. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home. ?Doyle was born Jan. 6, 1926 in Haskell, the first born son of Charlie Ray and Ola Belle (Gartrell) Hankins.
He was preceded in death by Ritha Pauline (Gilleland) Hankins, his wife of 58 years, Sept. 29, 2005.
He is survived by his second wife, Irene (Mann) Jolly, and by his three children, Ronald Hankins of Glen Rose, Shirley Hankina Hill of Glen Rose and Paula Hankins Marriot, of Hearne; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Doyle retired from Bell Helicopter in 1988, after 22 years as a machinist. He served in the United States Army at the end of World War II. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge No. 525 for more than 50 years.
After retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle and watching them graze on the home place of his parents here in Somervell County.
