Lloyd B. Locke
FORT WORTH - Lloyd B. Locke, 81, passed away Thursday, March 5. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 10, at Greenwood Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas.
Locke was born in Pampa on June 5, 1927. He joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Nevada as a proud 15-year old during World War II. After the war, he married Bobbie Carter, his wife of 47 years, and eventually settled in Glen Rose where he was a leader in the community.
Locke was the town barber where most of the boys received their first haircut and the best gossip in town could be heard. He served on the Glen Rose School Board and supported his and Bobbie’s daughters by never missing an athletic event. He continually supported the school and town by organizing donkey basketball games, fish fries, BBQs and various other events.
His greatest passions other than cutting up with friends were raising his greyhounds, coon hunting and racing his mule, Black Diamond. George Dolan once featured Locke and Black Diamond with a front page article in the Star-Telegram.
Later, Locke served the community as a 32nd-degree Mason and justice of the peace for over 20 years. Lloyd Locke loved his Lord, family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
Locke was preceded in death by his parents, Ruel and Ollie Jackson Locke; first wife, Billie Joann McMurtrey Locke; and brothers, Millard Franklin and Earl Douglas Locke.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Bobbie Locke; daughters, Sheila Ann Locke, Michele Hahnfeld and husband, Eric, of Fort Worth, Dana Lock and partner, Janet Dammann, of Katy, Lori Locke of New York; sister, Annie Lee Williams and husband, Joe, of Jasper; grandchildren, Melissa Gosdin, Angie Gosdin, Jennifer Gosdin all of Dallas, April Hahnfield of Fort Worth, Coleman Murphy and Eric Murphy, both of New York; numerous nieces and nephews.
