GLEN ROSE - James Singletary, a loving husband and father, left this world for heaven on Feb. 7.

Services were held Feb. 10 at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington with interment at Emerald Hills in Kennedale. Pastors Dennis Moore and Corky Matthews officiated.

James was born on Feb. 20, 1917, in Rusk, Texas.

He served in the CCC, National Guard and U.S. Army. He received several medals, including the Purple Heart while serving in World War II.

He retired as greens keeper for Shady Valley County Club in Arlington.

James was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and six sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clara Singletary, of Glen Rose; sons James Singletary and wife, Annette, of Goddard, Kan., and Butch Singletary and wife, La Juana, of Arlington; daughters Linda Stanley and husband, Ed, of Glen Rose and Mary Mapp and husband, Charles, of Arlington.

He also is survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a sister, Louise Beasely, of Rusk.
