WALNUT SPRINGS - Ida B. Roberts, 90, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008, in the Glen Rose Medical Center/Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in the Lawson Memorial Chapel in Walnut Springs with Rev. Richard Trotter officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs with Lawson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ida Beulah Maples was born on Jan. 19, 1918, in Austin to the late William Franklin and Annie Cox Maples. She was raised in the Austin area where she lived for many years. On Dec. 7, 1935, she was united in marriage to Owen Roberts in Austin. She and her husband moved to Walnut Springs in 1959 and she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Meridian Manor for 16 years, retiring in 1985. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by husband, Owen, on Nov. 27, 1987; sons, Jesse and Raymond Roberts and all of her siblings.
Survivors include children, Edith Kelley of Walnut Springs, Patsy Tweedle of Hico, Kenneth Roberts and wife Lois, of Whitney, and Kathy Hardin and husband, Kelly, of Walnut Springs; 23 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 40 great, great-grandchildren; and a great, great, great-grandson.
