HICO — Joe T. Culp, 82, a retired Department of Public Safety officer, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in Hico.
A funeral will be held at noon today at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose. Burial will follow in Acton Cemetery in Hood County.
Mr. Culp was born Jan. 22, 1927 in Coryell County, to Arthur and Mary Hoote Culp. He married Juanice Fay Ross, Nov. 11, 1945, in Weatherford. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Granbury Masonic Lodge No. 392 and the Moslah Shriners. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Joe was small in stature but big in heart. He never met a stranger and opened his heart and home to all. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Juanice; two sons, Jody Culp and Mitchell Culp; one brother and one sister. Special thanks and recognition to all of the doctors and nurses in Hamilton and Glen Rose who took care of Joe in his last years.
Survivors include son Michael Joe Culp and wife Paula; daughters, Tanya Lena Luker and Debra Culp; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and many extended family and friends.
Memorials can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
