GLEN ROSE - Della Freda Davis Whitworth, 97, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.

?A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Nancy Smith Cemetery in Somervell County. A remembrance gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whitworth was born Aug. 29, 1916, in Somervell County to Walter and Della Weatherford Davis. Following the death of her mother just days after her own birth, Freda was raised by Harvey and Ethel Davis McCoy.?

A lover of literature and learning, Freda was a Fort Worth library clerk and co-founder of Somervell County Library, who served as its first librarian from 1972 until her retirement at age 84. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, ceramics artist, crocheter and cook. Freda was an integral part of her husband's construction business and a mentor to many children and teens in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 76 years, Tim Alvin Whitworth; siblings, Herman, Morris, Bernice Loree, Betty, Larue, Dorothy, Wanda, Walterine and Sue; son-in-law, Billy Gene Mouser; granddaughter, Brenda Pryor; and great-grandson, Jase Robinson.

Freda is survived by her children and their spouses, Shirley Whitworth Mouser, Tim and Ann Whitworth, Randy and Lori Whitworth; grandchildren and spouses, Shari and John Reynolds, Billy Jack and Eddy Sue Mouser, Kati and Steve Mayo, Dru Mouser, Melody and Oscar Pena, Aaron and Alissa Whitworth; great-grandchildren and spouses, Josh and Tracy Reynolds, Cortrie and Gabe Robinson, Chance Reynolds, Christina and Jeremy Martin, Sara Bright, Hanna Bright, Billy Gene Mouser, Jesse Mouser, Spence Mouser, Zack Sterling, Caleb Kidd, Cami Kidd, Billy Pryor, Jenna Pryor, Dylan Dorfman, Brittany Elia, Jacob Pena, Cameron Pena, Faith Whitworth, Zoe Whitworth, Aiden Whitworth and Alexis Jones; great-great-grandchildren, Kade Elia, Remington Robinson, Madison Clark, Olivia Clark, Hagen Sterling and Talon Scott; and daughter-in-law, Jane Whitworth.
