GLEN ROSE - Lula Belle Starnes, 83, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.?A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Rainbow Baptist Church in Rainbow. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation is planned for 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.

Mrs. Starnes was born March 24, 1930, in Floydada, to Elmer Lee Smith and Banksie Nevada King Smith. In 1960, she married Billy Starnes, Jr., and he preceded her in death in 1993. In 2001, she married Robert Lee Avery, who preceded her in death in 2012.

She had lived in Glen Rose since 1984 and was a member of Rainbow Baptist Church. Mrs. Starnes retired from Pruitt Realty in 2003 after 20 years. She enjoyed bird watching, traveling and crafting. Her church was a big part of her life. Preceding her in death were her parents, two husbands, one brother and five sisters.

Survivors include sons, Charles Avery and wife, Barbara, of Glen Rose, Tim Starnes and wife, Phyllis, of Glen Rose, Dale Bentley and wife, Tracy, of Lorena; daughters, Dena Wilson and husband, John, of Lewisville, Tonya Cary of Euless; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren; sister, Mary Cozart of Hale Center.
