Norwalk, Ohio — Samuel L. "Sam" Souslin, 28, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Sunday morning May 22, 2011 in his home.

He was born June 3, 1982, in Glen Rose, Texas and came to this area in 1998. He was a 2000 graduate of Norwalk High School and attended Bowling Green State University. Sam enjoyed playing league softball, being a friend to others and the favorite uncle to his niece and nephews.

Survivors are his mother and stepfather, Patty and Jim Rockwell of Norwalk, Ohio, and his father, Gary E. Souslin of Norwalk, Ohio; a sister, Molly A. Irwin, of Glen Rose; his brother and sister-in-law, Matthew August and Holly E. Wiedemann, of Garland, Texas; his maternal grandfather, Laurel Cannon, of Norwalk, Ohio; his paternal grandmother, Lois Mann, of Norwalk, Ohio; and by his niece, Riley, and nephews Mason and Jaden. Sam also is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly for his kind heart.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ruth Cannon, by his paternal grandfather, Paul Souslin, by his paternal grandfather, Cecil Mann, by his paternal grandparents, Jack and Hazel Rockwell, and by his uncles Tom "Turk" Cannon, Rich Souslin, and Kent Wellman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Walker Funeral Home in Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Gary Streiff will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
