Dear Editor,

I am on the board of the American Junior Rodeo Association. Our association had been in progress since 1952. We pride ourselves in being an association made up of families who share quality time with our kids. Many of the families involved are second- and third-generation members, so the heritage runs deep.

Thanks to Glen Rose, our rodeo association has had the opportunity to spend a week in your awesome community! I would like to thank everyone who made this such a great experience for our kids.

Thank you, Billy Huckaby and the City of Glen Rose Convention and Visitors Bureau for donating the watermelon during the AJRA swimming party and putting together bags of information and coupons from participating businesses.

Thank you, Oakdale Park, for letting our kids come swimming for the day. Thank you to the Glen Rose ISD for opening your gym so that our kids could relax and enjoy a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Thank you to the Optimist Club for inviting us to share with you about our association.

Thank you to Hammonds B-B-Q, Chicken Express, Subway, Hollywood and Vine, Cheerful Heart Boutique, Paluxy River, Odie’s Nest, Grammy’s Junction, Over the Hill Antiques, Texas Treasures, Storiebook Café, River House Grill, Caylor Creek, Pie Peddlers, Green’s Shoe Repair and Leather Shop, Angel’s with Attitude, Rustic Rhinestone, Soul to Soul and The Junkyard, The Green Pickle, Country Peddlers, Los Primos Mexican Food Restaurant, Dairy Queen and The Big Cup Café. We really appreciate your discounts and after rodeo hours!

Thank you to the local residents who came and bought items at our auction. These purchases will help us offer quality prizes for our contestants next year.

And last but not least, thank you Mike Dooley and the Somervell County Expo and Texas Amphitheatre, for all that you did to help the rodeo run off smoothly. Your staff was always there to assist our board of directors as they prepared each night for the rodeo.
