Letter to the editor,
Last Saturday at 8 a.m. a very important meeting was held. It was a meeting concerning the proposed river walk in downtown Glen Rose. There was a group of about 10 of us who walked along the banks of the Paluxy River placing markers where the walk might go, discussing whose property it might or might not cross and the impact this walk would have on our town. What I found discouraging was the lack of attendance by our business community. This river walk could have a very “big” impact on our town if it is done correctly, with our local businesses in mind, or it could end up a nice little nature walk that people occasionally use. This could be such a nice attraction added to our town but if there is no input from the businesses and the people most directly affected by it, you may not be pleased with the outcome. Glen Rose is growing and it will change, there is no way to stop this. It is only through community participation that you can have any input on how it is done and that it is done to benefit all of us. Your options are to either let a few decide the future of this town or “you” can become involved and help direct its growth into an even greater place to live.
