Glen Rose Junior High School students Brittany Rosentreter and Hayes Burney were recently recognized as December Youth of the Month by the Optimist Club.

Rosentreter is on the A-B Honor Roll while enrolled in Pre-Ap classes. She has also been recognized with a math award.

She is vice president of student council and was a seventh grade cheerleader.

Rosentreter's achievements includes being on A-team basketball and volleyball, participation in high jump and hurdles in track, playing soccer and participating UIL. She was also named to the district band in seventh grade.

Within the community, Rosentreter has participated in the 4-H food show, is a member of Stonewater Church and has worked concession stands for fundraising efforts.

Burney was on the A-Honor Roll and while enrolled in Pre-Ap classes in sixth and seventh grade and A-B Honor Roll with Pre-Ap classes in eighth grade. He is a member of the National Honor Society.

As a leader, Burney is vice president of the National Junior Honor Society, First Chair Baritone in the Symphonic Band and was named Pre-Ap History Student of the Year while in the seventh grade.

His achievements include participation in seventh and eighth grade football and basketball and shot and discus in track. He achieved first place in UIL District in Dictionary Skills in sixth grade; fourth place UIL District in Dictionary Skills in seventh grade and Fourth Chair Baritone in District UIL Band in eighth grade.

Within the community, Burney is a member of First Baptist Church, has participated in the Somervell County Youth Fair Stock Show and Relay for Life and volunteered at Glen Rose Medical Center Nursing Home.
