Glen Rose Optimist Club recently honor junior high students Emileigh Cantwell and Matt Willis as Youth of the Month for November.
Emileigh maintains and AB average and is also in Pre-AP science, history and language arts.
Already a leader, Emileigh is the secretary of the Glen Rose Junior High Student Council, Top Hand at the Somervell County Youth Fair and participates in athletics.
Her achievements includes being named a junior high cheerleader, winning Showmanship at the Youth Fair and being invited to attend "The Event" in Orlando, Fla., where she will audition before directors and agents.
Emileigh is a member of FFA alumni and Cottonwood Baptist youth group.
Matt has a GPA of 4.5. He is enrolled in Pre AP Science, Geometry (10th grade level) and Pre AP English. SAT score in 7th grade was reading 480, math 470 and writing 420.
His leadership activities include being an eighth grade student representative and seventh grade Junior Youth and Government.
Matt's achievements includes participation in the Duke 7th grade talent search, being debate representative for Junior Youth and Government at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, having the highest seventh grade GPA in Pre AP Algebra 1 and winning fourth place overall in the Math Olympics his seventh grade year.
His community involvement activities include participation in the Soundwave Youth Choir at Acton United Methodist Church, Granbury Opera House, Seals & Swim team; volunteering for Granbury Brigade, Acton United Methodist Church, Historic Granbury Merchants Association and Granbury Chamber.
