Glen Rose Optimist Club recently honored two Glen Rose High School seniors for their academic achievements and accomplishments outside of the halls of education. Benjamin Coppock and Shelby Rotan were name High School Optimist Youth for December.

Coppock is ranked at the top student within the Class of 2013.

His academic achievements include being named to the A-Honor Roll for his entire school career and awards in multiple subject areas.

Cappock is also vice president of student body and president of Workforce Industry Training and National Honor Society.

Other achievements include being named 1st Team All-District in basketball; placing third in multiple meets in the 800-meter dash; being named a bi-district qualifier in both his sophomore and junior years in basketball; and advancing to regionals in UIL Science.

Within the community, Cappock has volunteered with the Somervell County Food Bank and Barnardís Mill. He also works at Squaw Valley Golf Course.?Rotan was at the recognized at the Optimists' December meeting and received her award at that time.
