Glen Rose High School Drama Department is inviting the community to a special holiday show.
A Neverland Christmas Carol will be presented to the public at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday in the high school theatre.
Classic Neverland characters like Peter Pan, Wendy and the nefarious Captain Hook will bring to life childhood memories for parents while children are taken along for the adventure in a performance the whole family will enjoy.
Theater Arts Teacher Matthew Kienbaum said students have been preparing for the production for about eight weeks and the department has put hours of work into the performance, which includes a mobile platform set that depicts five scenes, including 16-foot trees, a pirate ship and cliff faces for the club house, all constructed by technical theater students.
The spirited Peter Pan, whose magic will be brought to life as he flies across the set, adds spark to the classic Christmas Carol sharing the story of Scrooge - played by Captain Hook - and teaching the Lost Boys the traditions of Christmas.
The entire play is filled with fun and merriment and the protagonists work to save Christmas in true Neverland spirit.
"Peter Pan and his friends raid the Jolly Rogers and pull a prank on Hook," Kienbaum said.
While the ever-jealous Tinkerbell sulks at Wendy’s presence, wicked Captain Hook and his zany band of pirates concoct an evil scheme to sabotage the festivities.
It’s up to Peter Pan, the Darlings, and a Dickens-inspired re-enactment to show Hook the error of his ways and ultimately save - and show the hooligans the true meaning of - Christmas.
Tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for students, veterans and senior citizens and may be purchased at the door.
Santa Claus will visit all the good little boys and girls at the end of the show.
