Glen Rose High School soon will be alive with the sound of music coming from the newly renovated band hall.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Saturday morning for the facility. Members of the Glen Rose ISD school board and staff, including Board of Trustees President Marilyn Phillips, Superintendent Wayne Rotan and Band Director Ray Portillo, as well architects and contractors, Glen Rose/Somervell County Chamber of Commerce members and others were on hand for the occasion.
The former gymnasium was transformed into the band hall by PBK Architects, the same firm that designed the new Tiger Arena. The band hall features a sound-proof floor, instrument storage units customized to fit different instrument sizes, a wide shelf for displaying trophies and much more space.
The band hall renovation was one of the projects included in the $19.95 million bond election passed by voters in 2010.
