DENTON — Madi Gladen finished with an ace, seven kills, two blocks and eight digs in Sherman’s 25-8, 25-15, 25-18 loss to first-place Denton Ryan on Friday evening in District 5-5A volleyball action.

Rylie Bernard and Jaz Cleamons each finished with four kills and a block and Sarah Graham had two kills and six blocks for the Lady Cats. Dallas Aleman added 12 assists and six digs and Lourden Bell had eight digs.

Sherman (17-20, 4-6) maintained a one-game lead over Denison and a 1½-game lead over Wichita Falls for the fourth and final playoff berth with two matches left. The Lady Cats will travel to play Wichita Falls Rider on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

District 11-4A Melissa def. Anna 3-0

MELISSA — Susan Blake had 14 kills as Melisa defeated Anna and clinched a playoff spot, 25-18, 25-13, 25-17, in district action on Friday.

Alli Boedeker added five kills and three aces, Amanda Kocsis collected 23 digs, Sophia Davis handed out 10 assists and Charley Lane finished with 14 assists for Melissa (23-11, 6-1), which remained tied with Celina for first-place.

District 9-3A Whitesboro def. Pilot Point 3-0

WHITESBORO — Sierra Parks put down eight kills and Whitesboro beat Pilot Point and clinched a playoff spot, 25-18, 25-13, 25-23, in district action on Friday.

Taylor Brown and Lauren Purdom each had five kills, Jess Abney totaled four kills, 10 assists and four digs, Karlee Schuessler chipped in nine assists and five digs, Maggie McCorkle collected nine digs and Molly Miller finished with seven digs for Whitesboro (26-8, 7-2).

Carrie Hayes had five kills and five and a half blocks, Ally Morris added four kills and three and a half blocks, Mercedez Lane totaled nine assists and nine digs and Payge Luneau collected 33 digs for Pilot Point (10-19, 1-9)

Ponder def. Gunter 3-1

GUNTER — Camryn MacDonald had 16 kills, 15 digs and three blocks for Gunter but first-place Ponder beat the Lady Tigers, 25-21, 25-12, 20-25, 25-22, in district action on Friday.

Tori Gittens added nine kills and three blocks, Kourtney Miller put down four kills, Sasha Biehahn totaled 24 assists and 10 digs and Alyssa Jarrell and Sarah Franze each collected 10 digs for Gunter (14-20, 5-5).

District 10-3A Leonard def. Whitewright 3-1

WHITEWRIGHT — Alyssa Davis had 24 kills, nine digs and six aces as Leonard defeated Whitewright, 25-21, 25-18, 24-26, 25-23, in district action on Friday.

Linda Feagan added 16 assists and five digs, Abby Newton chipped in 13 assists, 12 digs and four kills, Maggie Scoggins finished with 13 digs and two aces and Hailey Black totaled eight digs and two aces for Leonard (15-20, 5-5).

District 11-2A Wolfe City def. Dodd City 3-2

WOLFE CITY — Skylar Brower had 25 kills and six aces as Wolfe City gained sole possession of first place with a 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-9 victory against Dodd City in district action on Friday.

Lexi Hattaway added 23 kills, five blocks and four aces, Jayla Hattaway put down seven kills, Lauren Turner finished with 24 assists and three kills and Lexi Blassingame totaled 20 assists and two aces for Wolfe City (27-7, 10-1).

Fallon Hilliard had 20 kills, seven digs and three blocks, Lindsay Carter added 17 kills and four digs, Olivia Hilliard chipped in three kills and two blocks, Lexi Herpeche totaled three blocks, Madelyn Underwood collected five digs and Abby Weeks finished with 35 assists and six digs for Dodd City (25-7, 9-2).

Bells def. Tom Bean 3-1

TOM BEAN — Zoe Bankston had 18 kills, three blocks, three aces and 16 digs as Bells defeated Tom Bean and clinched a playoff spot, 14-25, 25-16, 25-19, 28-26, in district action on Friday.

Isabella Smith added seven kills, four blocks and 21 digs, Keisha Arellano chipped in four kills and 13 digs, Hali Williams handed out 45 assists to go with 17 digs and Kennedy Derzapf collected 12 digs for Bells (15-13, 8-3).
