The North Central Texas Academy boys and girls basketball teams will both open the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools playoffs at home Friday on Happy Hill Farm.
NCTA Athletic Director Kirby Rasco, who coaches the Lady Pioneers, said that they will take on Lubbock Kingdom Prep starting at 5 p.m. Friday. NCTA was runner-up to San Angelo Cornerstone in the final girls district standings, and are 8-8 on the season.
The NCTA boys — who recently captured their fourth consecutive district championship by winning TAPPS 1A, District 2 — will play first at home on Friday. Their tipoff is set for 3 p.m., when they will take on Longview Trinity. The Pioneers have a 19-5 season record.
The NCTA teams have enjoyed amazing levels of success in recent years. The Lady Pioneers have captured six consecutive TAPPS 1-A state championships and the boys team has won three state titles in a row.
