The Glen Rose varsity girls softball team, coming off its first two games of the regular season, will be hosting its own tournament — the Hannah Morales Memorial Tournament — Thursday through Saturday.

The round robin competition features eight teams. In addition to Glen Rose, the other schools entered are Tolar, Peaster, Paradise, Lancaster, Hillsboro, Azle junior varsity, and Keene.

The Lady Tigers enter the tournament with an 0-2 record, with home losses to Waco Connally and Whitney.

In the Feb. 14 season opener, the Lady Tigers fell to Connally, 14-3.

In that game, Lauren Forkner, Rheagan Whitefield and Rachael Buren drove in one run apiece for the Lady Tigers. Whitefield was 1 for 4 with a double, while Courtney Morris, Tatum Stegint, Forkner and Buren posted one hit each.

Alexis Norman, Abby Green and Morris scored one run apiece.

Morris pitched all seven innings for Glen Rose, giving up 16 hits, striking out five and walking three.

Two Connally players pitched and combined to strike out 11 batters.

The Feb. 17 matchup against Whitney was a 16-0 loss.
