The North Central Texas Academy boys and girls basketball teams opened the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class A playoffs with two victories in their home gym at Happy Hill Farm.

The Lady Pioneers outscored Lubbock Kingdom Prep in their bi-district contest, 55-51. That sent them into the area round Tuesday at home against Athens Christian, which they also won, 46-31.

The NCTA boys advanced by beating Longview Trinity in their first-round playoff contest, 76-42. The Pioneers followed that with an 81-42 victory over Longview Christian Tuesday at Happy Hill.

The Lady Pioneers will take on De Soto Canterbury Friday at 7 p.m. in Keene in their third-round playoff game. The NCTA boys will take on Wichita Falls Notre Dame in the third round, but the time, day and site were not set as of press time.

The Pioneers improved to 21-5 on the season. The Lady Pioneers are 10-8 overall.
