The opening of the 2018 baseball season for the Glen Rose High School baseball team was scheduled for this weekend, but predictions of wet weather may have altered those plans.

As of press time, coach James Evans’ Tigers were slated to play starting Thursday in the Everman High School tournament. Their first game was set for 9 a.m. Thursday against Pinkston, followed at 11 a.m. by a matchup against Irving Ranchview. Both of those games were to be played at Everman High School’s field.

Sixteen schools are in the tournament, with each guaranteed at least five games. In addition to Everman High’s field, games are also scheduled to be played at Goldstein Field in Fort Worth.

Assuming the tournament schedule is not changed because of the weather, today (Friday) the Tigers were to play only one game, with a 9 a.m. start against Benbrook, at Goldstein Field.

The Tigers were then scheduled to play two games on Saturday, both at Goldstein — 11 a.m. versus Tyler John Tyler, and 1 p.m. against Fort Worth Northside.

Next week, March 1-3, the Tigers will play host to the annual Glen Rose Harley “Hogg” Sinclair tournament to kick off their regular-season home schedule.

The first game in that tournament for the Tigers will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 1, against Tolar.

On Friday, March 2, the Tigers are scheduled to play at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., against Grandview and Ranchview, respectively.

The Glen Rose games set for Saturday, March 3, are slated for 1 p.m. against Springtown and 3 p.m. taking on Crawford.
