The young Glen Rose High School softball team made some noise Tuesday night as the Lady Tigers closed out their 2018 season with a 10-5 District 8-4A road triumph over Midlothian Heritage as senior Sydney Lozier drove in four runs.

Coach Kiel Miller’s Lady Tigers posted a 3-9 district record and they were 8-12 overall.

It marked the final game for the three GRHS senior softball players — Lozier, Stormi Burns and Kashanna Bryant.

Lozier was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a walk, and scored twice.

Teammate Kashanna Bryant drove in two runs and was 1-for-4. Courtney Morris and Taylor McKenzie also singled.

McKenzie went the distance to earn the pitching win. She worked seven innings and gave up five runs — three earned. She yielded 11 hits while striking out four and walking only one.

The Lady Tigers jumped to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning before the Lady Jaguars cut it to 4-1 in the bottom of the frame.

Glen Rose added three runs in the third and three more in the seventh, while holding Heritage to one in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

The rest of the GRHS varsity roster could return next season, featuring two juniors (Courtney Morris and Tatum Stegint), four sophomores (Abby Green, Alexis Drugan, Camryn Miller and Kennedy Bunt) and three freshmen (Kaylee McDonald, Taylor McKenzie and Felicity Austin).
