The Glen Rose High School varsity baseball squad took a 2-0 lead early but couldn’t hang on in a 7-4 non-district road loss to Springtown on Tuesday.

Jadon Harper doubled and drove in a pair of runs with one hit in four at-bats for coach James Evans’ Tigers, who are 11-5 on the season.

River Costello went 2-for-3 and drove in a run for the Tigers, and Garrett Gilbreath also had one RBI and was 1-for-3. Bryson Klein had the other hit for the Tigers.

The Tigers scored one run in the first and one in the second, but the Porcupines plated five runs in the bottom of the second.

Glen Rose rallied to get within 5-4 with two runs in the third, but Springtown put it away adding two runs in the sixth.

Michael Watson was the starting pitcher for Glen Rose and took the loss. He allowed five runs — all unearned — on two hits.

Harper pitched the final 4-1/3 innings, allowing two unearned runs on two hits.

The Tigers are scheduled to play at home on Friday, March 22, against San Angelo Lake View, set for 6 p.m. The next game for the Tigers will be March 29 at home against Springtown (varsity at 7 p.m.).
