Glen Rose will be well represented at the Class 3A Region I Track and Field Championships at Robert Fuller Track on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock May 1-2.

Ten girls and eight boys from GRHS will attend the regional meet, with a handful having qualified in multiple events.

Two relay teams advanced out of District 7-3A on the girls side, as Katy Irvin, Breanna Crawford, Reegan Ritter and Kaitlin West are in the 4x200m event, while Gina Sannoh, Jaylan Dillard, Kelsie Parnell and West make up the 4x400m team. Gina Sannoh is an alternate on the mile relay.

West has also qualified in the triple jump and the 200m and will compete in a total of four events.

Carly Payne will also be in Lubbock to compete in the discus throw.

One boys relay qualified for regionals, as Shelby Junge, Jesse Betsill, Jesus Aguilar and Ty Taylor will be running in the 4x400m relay.

Austin Eschbach will be in the high jump, Luis Sandoval is running the 3,200m, Betsill and Taylor are also competing in the 300m hurdles, Aguilar will be in the 400m and Mikey Flores is in the long jump while also joining Stan Abernathy as alternates in the 4x400m. DJ Figueroa advanced in the shot put.

Glen Rose will tune up for the regional meet with its annual Jackie Bullion Regional Qualifiers Meet at Tiger Stadium Thursday. Field events begin at 3:45 p.m., followed by running finals at 6 p.m.
