Kyle Roundtree posted a triple-double and Carlos Lerma also filled up the stat sheet to lead Walnut Springs to a 60-48 victory over Covington last week.

Roundtree scored 12 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and tallied an impressive 10 blocked shots for his triple-double. Carlos Lerma was just as effective, scoring a game-high 23 points to go with 12 boards, five steals and four assists.

The Hornets used a big third quarter to steal the momentum and lead. They trailed 27-26 at the break before rolling to a 21-7 advantage in the third, taking a 47-34 lead into the fourth.

Other scorers for Walnut Springs included Blas Lerma with 14 points to go with five assists and three steals, Jessy Ramos with four, Mario Ballesteros with three along with five assists and four steals and Aaron Herring and Ryan Engelhardt with two points each.

Walnut Springs opens District 25-A Division II play Friday at Iredell.
