The Glen Rose Lady Tigers split six matches in the Grandview Tournament, reaching the third place game before falling to Waco Robinson in straight sets.

Matches were played in a best two-of-three tournament format instead of the traditional best three-of-five series, and Glen Rose won two of three pool matches to advance to bracket action.

The Lady Tigers bounced back from an opening 10-25, 16-25 loss to Waco Robinson with consecutive wins over Bowie, 25-11, 25-15, and Waco Connally, 25-23, 28-26, in pool play.

In the opening round of bracket play, the Lady Tigers needed all three sets to clip Sunnyvale, winning 12-25, 25-18, 25-18. Glen Rose was one win away from reaching the championship match, but it wasn’t meant to be as Mexia edged the Lady Tigers 25-23, 26-24 in the semifinals.

The third place match wasn’t close, as Waco Robinson won both games by double digits, 25-13, 25-15.

Glen Rose battled in a three-way match Tuesday against host Mineral Wells and Eastland. The Lady Tigers open the home portion of their schedule against Clifton Friday with sub-varsity play starting at 4:30 p.m.
