Head coach Tim Trotter led the Walnut Springs Hornets to their best season in school history last season.

On Monday, Trotter and the Hornets hit the field for preseason workouts with more than satisfaction on their minds.

“We know (reaching the next level) can be done,” said Trotter. “The expectations are high and we have to keep working hard to get back to where we were. We can’t be relaxed and we can’t be satisfied.”

Trotter had 22 players report to workouts in attempt to fill a varsity and JV roster.

Among those reporting, returning quarterback Eddie Whitt, Mario Ballesteros and Kody and Johnathan Stack.

The Stacks will be the primary option at runningback for Trotter this season, while Ballesteros will be asked to fill several different positions this season, according to Trotter.
