Just how good was the 2008-09 girls basketball season at Walnut Springs?

Good enough for the Lady Hornets to advance further into the Class A Division II state playoffs than any other squad in school history, and now, good enough for five individuals to reap honors voted on by the coaches of District 20.

Five Lady Hornets have been recognized with all-district honors, led by Courtney Gibbons, who averaged a double-double on the season.

Gibbons was named co-MVP of the league, and has also been selected to play in the TABC all-star game this summer.

Senior Whitleigh Billman also picked up special honors as the district's Defensive Player of the Year, while classmate Mariah Hardin and junior Shea Jones each picked up first team honors.

Shakota Billman, who is just a freshman, has been listed as a second-team honoree, while junior Shadie Shadix picked up honorable-mention accolades.
