Glen Rose picked up a pair of wins on the District 8-4A junior varsity baseball diamond last week, knocking off both West and Whitney.

The Tigers picked up a complete game one-run effort by Hayden Bach on the mound in the 4-1 victory over West. Bach allowed only three hits and sat three batters down on strikes.

Cody Burtscher had the big hit of the night with a homerun included in his two base knocks.

Seth Thompson and Justin Weatherley each had two hits while Bach, Tanner Tongate, Weston Snow and Westley Pritchard each had one.

Defensively, the Tigers turned a double play and committed just one error.

The win against West secured the No. 1 seed for the Tigers in the JV tournament set for Saturday in Glen Rose.

The Tigers also throttled Whitney 16-0, behind a four-hit performance by Thompson and two hits by Dayton Armstrong.

Bach, Burtscher, Weatherley and Pritchard, Snow, Clayton Tubbs and Jared Morgan each had one hit. The hits by Snow and Tubbs were doubles while Armstrong, Bach and Morgan scored three runs each.

Morgan and Thompson handled duties on the hill, combining for a one-hit shutout while striking out seven.
