Glen Rose dominated for three quarters, but couldn't overcome a tough start in a 20-16 loss to Gatesville in junior varsity football action last week.

Gatesville drove 65 yards for a touchdown on the opening possession, and was quickly ahead 14-0 thanks to a score off a Glen Rose fumble on the Tigers' second offensve play.

The Hornets used a pair of long pass plays to drive the field again for a 20-0 advantage before Glen Rose ever got warmed up.

Colton Bretton completed 14 passes for 241 yards and rushed for 54 yards as the Tiger offense finally came to life.

Glen Rose scored twice and converted a pair of two-point conversions to pull within a score before stalling in the red zone on its final offensive possession.

Westley Pritchard had three receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown, while Jamie Ingram led all receivers with seven catches for 107 yards. Garrett Trotter caught a 40-yard pass.

Logan Caylor had the lone rushing TD to go with 18 yards for Glen Rose, while Adam Rios rushed for 39 yards and caught three passes for 30. Bobby Guinn rushed for 13 yards.

Coaches cited Hayden Bach, Jake Sullivan, Keith McAnally, Austin Gibson, Billy Perez and Pritchard for playing well defensively. Pritcher had an interception, Bach, Sullivan and Gibson broke up several pass attempts, and McAnally and Perez led in tackles, sacks and quarterback pressures.
