Glen Rose golfers made up four of the top five finishes in the District 12-3A tournament held on their home course, Squaw Valley Golf Course, on April 1st and 2nd.
The entire No. 1 boys team from GRHS will now advance to the Class 2A Region II tournament April 21-22 at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro.
Austin Jordan led the No. 1 Tigers with second place finish. he finished three over par on day one and came back to shoot even on day two for a total of 147 strokes. Jordan finished four shots behind Kennedale’s leader, who shot 73-70 to finish at 1-under par 143.
Hunter Blanks recovered from a first round 82 with the best round of the tournament on the second day - a 5-under par 67. With a two day total of 5-over 149, he tied teammate Bryce Greer (77-72).
Tanner Tongate finished fifth for the Tigers at 7-over 151 (78-73), two shots behind Greer and Blanks, and just one shot clear of Hillsboro’s top finisher.
Also finishing in the top 10 for the Tigers was Tyler Park who came back from a 90 to start the tournament with a 78 in the second round, finishing at 24-over 168.
As a team, the Tigers built a 14 stroke lead on Kennedale Gold with a total of 312 strokes on day one. They finished 28 strokes better in the second round, coming homee in 284 to win with a final stroke count of 596. Kennedale Gold finished at 633 and will be joining Glen Rose No. 1 at regionals.
The No. 2 team from GRHS finished fourth, behind the No. 1 team and both Kennedale squads. The team finished in 382 strokes on day one and 387 on day two for a total of 769.
Leading the No. 2 Tigers was Blaine Lamb at 174 (81-93). He was followed by Dylan Rodriguez at 175 (89-86), Tyler Tongate at 180 (88-92) and Forrest Lyons at 240 (124-116).
