Hunter Blanks is the best golfer in District 7-3A. Glen Rose is the best team.

The Tigers took a slim two-round lead on the road to Gatesville and held off the host Hornets by one-stroke on their home course to claim the district title.

Glen Rose finished the three rounds in 931 strokes, followed immediately by Gatesville in 932. China Spring took third, scoring 955.

Blanks won the individual championship, scoring a 1-under par 213. He was followed by Austin Jordan, who was the third place medalist with a score of 224.

Other members of the district champion Tigers include Shane Washburn, Tanner Tongate and Pat Magee.

Glen Rose advances to the Class 3A Region I championship in Lubbock Monday and Tuesday.

On the girls side, the Lady Tigers finished third behind district champ China Spring and Gatesville.

Junior Chelsi McNally led Glen Rose, advancing to regionals as an individual medalist. She competes in Lubbock next Wednesday and Thursday.

Other Lady Tigers include Kaycie Brown, Jacqui Condy, Matalyn Hazel and Samantha Montoya.

The boys’ second team of Brandon Olivez, Kyle Keller, Jesse Betsill and Mauro D’Angelo finished fifth.
