Shakota Billman scored 24 points to lead Walnut Springs (9-6) past Iredell 44-30 for the consolation championship in tournament play at Morgan last weekend.

Billman was 5-6 from outside the arc and 9-15 overall from the floor while collecting five steals, five rebounds and three assists.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 26-13 halftime advantage behind a 12-6 edge in the first and a 14-7 push in the second. They outscored Iredell by one after halftime.

Shadie Shadix was a perfect 5-5 from the floor to finish with 10 points to go with a team-leading seven rebounds.

Shea Jones scored six points while dishing out four assists and gathering three steals.

Brooke Townley scored just two points but quarterbacked the Lady Hornet offensive attack with seven assists and also tallied four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Ashley Mitchell and Denver Daughtry both scored five for Walnut Springs.

The Lady Hornets returned to district action at Morgan Tuesday night in search of their first league win. They entered this week’s play with an 0-2 record in District 15 of Class A Division II
