Glen Rose made a strong showing with its JV baseball team last weekend, placing second in a varsity tournament in Ranger.

The Tigers had a good chance to reign supreme against their varsity counterparts, leading most of the way before falling 5-4 to De Leon in the championship game.

Hayden Bach and Tanner Tongate combined for seven innings on the mound, surrendering five runs on six hits while striking out six De Leon hitters.

Tongate continued his impressive weekend at the plate in the finale, joining Jarod Morgan as the only Tigers with two hits. Bach, Seth Thompson and Gavin Fitzpatrick each had one base knock.

Fitzpatrick pitched five innings in the semifinal win, allowing four runs on just four hits while sitting five hitters down on strikes.
