Glen Rose went 2-2 at the 2008 FSN 7-on-7 State Championship presented by Adidas and Academy Sports and Outdoors last week, placing second in Pool D before being eliminated in the first round of the championship bracket.

The Tigers, one of 32 teams that lined up to begin vying for the 2008 Division II (1A-3A) championship on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station Thursday, went 2-1 in pool play.

Glen Rose defeated Class A Wellington, 35-21, then matched the same score in a defeat of private school Waco Reicher.

The only bump in the road through Pool D came against eventual state finalist Navasota, which edged the Tigers, 33-26.

As the No. 2 seed from Pool D, the Tigers met Rockdale, the No. 3 seed from Pool H in the opening round of the championship bracket.

A shootout unfolded, and Rockdale prevailed, 40-34.

Rockdale was blown out by new 3A member Brownwood in the second round.

Navasota ran all the way to the state final before losing to Crane, 38-27.

Crane scored touchdowns on the final plays of both halves, each coming on interception returns involving several laterals.
