It may not have been as satisfying as playoff denial, but the Lady Tigers took out a bit of revenge on the West Lady Trojans Friday.
West ended Glen Roseís season a year ago, but Friday the Lady Tigers took away any chance of a co-district title for the Lady Tojans - and as a bonus, locked up a playoff spot for themselves.
Glen Rose swept West in straight sets to guarantee themselves a playoff spot for the first time since 2007.
The scores were 25-21, 25-23, 25-11.
Katy Irvin led the Lady Tigers with 11 kill shots while Katie Uehlein and Mika Kelly each added six.
Reilly Junge and Macy Reynolds each tallied 15 serves while Samantha Strother netted 13 blocks.
To set up the playoff-clinching match with their rivals, the Lady Tigers pulled off a sweep of lowly Alvarado, 25-22, 25-15, and 25-14.
The same trio of seniors led Glen Rose as Irvin had 11 kills, Uehlein added nine and Kelly tallie six.
Reynolds led in serves with 21 while Kaitlin West was the top blocker with six.
Glen Rose wrapped up itís regular season Tuesday in Venus.
The Lady Tigers were in third place as of press. Should they remain there after tonightís matches, they will face the third-place team from District 7-3A in the opening round of the post season.
