In bi-district, it was Courtney Gibbons.

In the area championship, it was Whitleigh Billman.

In Walnut Springs, they don't care who the Lady Hornet of the hour is, just so they keep going.

WSHS has kept going, right into the third round of the Class A Division II Region III playoffs, where they met Trinidad on Tuesday.

The Lady Hornets dismantled Coolidge in the opening round of the postseason, 53-32, then held off Saint Jo, 29-22, in a defensive area round struggle.

Against Coolidge, Gibbons was in the zone and nobody could stop her. She poured in 23 points, took away nine steals and grabbed eight rebounds in the win.

Shakota Billman also played a key role with 10 points and seven boards, while Whitleigh Billman had eight and Mariah Hardin scored six to go with nine rebounds.

Others contributing for Walnut Springs were Shea Jones with four points and Lauren Powell with two.

The Lady Hornets trailed by five after the opening quarter, but outscored Coolidge 30-12 in the second and third to hold a commanding 13-point advantage entering the fourth.

Everything slowed to a deliberate crawl against Saint Jo, but not slow enough to keep Whitleigh Billman from finding time to post a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

Gibbons was solid again with nine points, five rebounds and four steals, while Hardin had five, Shadie Shadix scored two, Shea Jones also added two to go with three steals and Shakota Billman grabbed five boards and scored a point.

The Lady Hornets are now 25-7 on the season. See next week's edition of The Reporter for a complete playoff update concerning all this week's action.
