In their last action of the 2012 season, the Freshman Lady Tigers finished up in impressive fashion.

Glen Rose (14-7) battered the Hillsboro defense with strong serving in a 25-12 and 25-2 victory.

“I think this is a great group of athletic girls,” said coach Carrie Lytle. “They came together to work on their teamwork and communication, plus they were eager to play.”

In game one, Madison Gibson was the top performer with 10 service points.

“Madison is consistent all the way around the floor,” Lytle said. “She’s a great motivator and teammate. Madison is never negative.”

In game two, Dakotah Ponce served out of her mind with a 20-point streak for a 20-0 lead.

“That’s the first time one of my players served 20 in a row,” Lytle said. “Her concentration was impressive, but also the way her teammates backed her up to get the ball back over. They only returned three of those serves, so Dakotah had a great serve going.”

Winning the last game of the season 25-2 made for a happy coach.

“It’s great to see them come together and end on a high note,” she said. “These girls have a bright future ahead, and as coaches we also look forward to it.”
