Glen Rose native Whitley Patterson has wasted no time making her golf game known in Victoria.

Patterson, who was the University of Houston-Victoriaís first womenís golf signee after playing two seasons at McLennan College, won her division of the fourth annual Victoria City Championship last weekend.

Patterson ran away from the field with an opening-round 70, and followed it up with an 81 in the second round and an 84 on the final 18 holes to win by a whopping 23 shots.

Patterson was one of three UHV athletes to perform well in the event. Austin Griffin lost a playoff and finished second in the menís championship flight, while baseball player Broc Haymon took third in the menís championship B flight.
