Waco Robinson ruined the 2008-09 Glen Rose girls’ home basketball debut Tuesday night by handing the Lady Tigers a 57-38 loss.
Robinson came out firing early, jumping out to a 14-4 lead over the first six minutes of the contest.
“(Robinson) is a regional final team,” said Lady Tiger Head Coach Sheree Hill. “They’re an excellent team, and they out-manned us. I thought we played well for the first two or three minutes of the game, but then got a little out of sync and forgot what it was we were trying to accomplish. But for the most part we did some things right. We did a lot of things right tonight that we didn’t do against Alvarado. I’m not disappointed in what we did, but I am disappointed in how we executed.”
The Lady Tigers posted most of their points from the free throw line, with 17 from the charity stripe.
Kaitlin West and Dorra Ibarra led the way for the Lady Tigers with eight points each. West also had two rebounds in the Robinson-dominated rebounding contest.
Angelica Lisauckis tallied seven points and two boards, while Racia Ratliff led the way with seven rebounds.
Glen Rose struggled getting anything going against the Rockets, in large part due to several offensive turnovers.
“Some of the turnovers were (forced by Robinson), but a lot of them were unforced,” said Hill. “We just have a lot of inexperienced kids. We have a lot of kids who have never stepped foot in a varsity game before last week, so they’re going to make some mistakes.”
The Lady Tigers will return to action when they host the Glen Rose Tournament on Thursday and Saturday.
