Glen Rose picked up a much needed win in non-district softball action on Friday as the Lady Tigers traveled to Mineral Wells and escaped with a 7-5 defeat of the 4A Lady Rams.
Jesse Calkins picked up the win in the circle for Glen Rose, scattering six hits over a complete game. She struck out five batters while walking just one.
Thee Lady Tigers tallied only four hits at the plate, two of them coming from Anjelica Lisauckis. She drove in a pair of runs with her two singles.
Other hits for the Lady Tigers came from Teryl Dunn and Caitlin Spurgin.
“Our girls did a great job of staying focused the entire game and not making any major mistakes,” said Glen Rose head coach Kiel Miller. “Jessie pitched a good game. She only gave up one real big hit. It was an inside-the-park homerun that probably would have been a double in most parks. Their stadium is huge.”
The Lady Tigers also played in Dublin last week, where they fell, 9-2, to the 2A Lady Lions.
