After losing to Glen Rose by 17 points in November, Mineral Wells managed to return the favor on Friday afternoon in the Luminant/Glen Rose Lions Club Tournament.

Mineral Wells rode a great second quarter (21-11) to a 53-39 victory over previously unbeaten Glen Rose (10-1). Mineral Wells narrowly won the first (12-9) and fourth quarters (14-13), while each team scored six in the third.

“We didn’t shoot well or run the floor well,” said coach Sheree Hill. “Mineral Wells shot well, especially in that second quarter with four three-pointers. We tried to help on their big girl, but then another one of their players shot very well to score 23.”

Lady Tiger scorers included Kayla Goebel (10), Kelsey Potter (9), Shelby Rotan (5), Reilly Junge (4), Madi Gibson (4), Ashlan Bernard (3), Destiny Ponce (2) and Kiffany Kelly (2). Kelly left the game with a knee injury, and the severity has yet to be determined.

The Lady Tigers returned to tourney action at GRJHS against Early at 7:40 p.m.

“We have to move on from this one and get back on track,” Hill said.
