After reaching the Class A Division II Region III semifinals, Walnut Springs' girls basketball club has picked up some hard-earned postseason honors.
The coaches of District 20 have released the girls' all-district team, featuring six Lady Hornets, including two who earned special awards.
Courtney Gibbons, who posted double-doubles throughout much of the season, whas named Co-MVP of the league, while Whitleigh Billman was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Taking first-team all-district honors were Mariah Hardin and Shea Jones, while Shakota Billman was recognized on the second team.
Shadie Shadix also picked up accolades, being listed as an honorable mention selection.
The Lady Hornets were 26-8 on the season, and advanced further in the playoffs than any girls team in school history.
