Niedziela gets Hugh Smith scholarship award

Ten scholarship award winners were recently announced by the Glen Rose Lions Club, including Cassie Niedziela as the recipient of the first-ever Glen Rose Optimist Club/Glen Rose Lions Club Hugh Smith Memorial scholarship.

Glen Rose High School senior Cassi Niedziela has been presented with the first-ever Glen Rose Optimist Club/Glen Rose Lions Club Hugh Smith Memorial scholarship as the top graduate of the Class of 2017.

The scholarship is in memory and honor of Hugh Smith, who was a loyal member of both organizations and a proponent of education and helping youth achieve their goals.

The Glen Rose Lions Club Scholarship Committee also announced the following award-winners:

Maurice English, Hill College/Glen Rose Lions Club — Trevor Easter.

Luminant/Glen Rose Lions Club — Matthew Willis.

First Financial Bank/Glen Rose Lions Club — Brittany Rosentreter.

Chalk Mountain Services/Glen Rose Lions Club Vocational Award — Adrian Barraza, TSTC.

Other Lions Club student award winners — Wendy Lin, Joel Sims, Michaela Johnson, Elizabeth Boyd and Jaylan Evans.
